Thank you for the thought provoking post.

I was at WildStorm then. I drove into work that morning, clueless. The office was weirdly quiet and almost empty. I turned on my computer and the news hit me. I sat there, stunned, reading what I could about it, until my boss came in and told me to go home and hug the ones I loved.

Something else I remember that has always stayed with me... I got "stuck" in Detroit / Grosse Pointe. But I was safe, I had a (free) roof over my head, I was with family... but I was so anxious to get home, which meant Portland. I often think about why I felt so untethered and stranded at the time, when I was in a place where I'd spent most of my life. I also often think about what that day would have been like had I been on an earlier flight.
