spent /spent/

Adjective. Consumed; having been used and unable to be used again.

I am on the verge of being closed
due to lack of funds.
An examination
of my past few monthly statements will reveal
a trend of too many withdrawals,
and not enough deposits.
My spending habits also tell a story,
of purchases made without warranties.
And what I am left holding
now is a collection of broken, damaged goods
that appeared to be in mint condition
upon initial examination.
My currency, far deeper in value
than the numerical denominations on papers and coins,
but I have been operating under false
exchange rates.
These transactions, a cautionary tale
of needing to take a closer look
before making any future investments.
